Sahakarya Nepal

Sahakarya is a civil society initiative, started as non-political and non- religious movement with the mission of 'working together for a just society'. The initiative has been registered with the Government of Nepal (GoN) as a Non- Governmental Organisation (NGO) in June 2004.

ACTIVITIES

Activities in process

~	Capacity building of DDCs, VDCs, line agencies, community based CSOs through training, workshops, seminars, exposure visits and information dissemination on the various areas

~	Reaching to the poor and disadvantaged and empowerment process

~	Programme and proposal development focusing on the issues of poor and disadvantaged people

~	Managing a four-year EC funded (Euro 749,888) project to enhance the capacity of Indigenous People’s Organisations (IPOs) as one of the consortium members (Action Aid, Federation of Indigenous Nationalities and Sahakarya) from Jan 2005. Sahakarya takes a lead in capacity development/building for Indigenous Peoples Organizations (IPOs) and other project-implementing partners.

~	Managing a project (NRs 2.4m) and strengthening capacity of 40 NGO partners (basically of the HIV networks) of Family Health International Nepal, funded by USAID/ASHA (Advancing Surveillance, policies, prevention, care and support to fight HIV/AIDS in Nepal) project since Feb 2007 for one year

~	Managing a capacity building programme (NRs 5m) and strengthening capacity of 45 NGOs which are funded by Plan International to enhance their effectiveness in delivering their services since 2006 for a period of five year

Future Plans of Organization

~	Promoting good governance through review, amendment and formulation of new policy and role models within the organization and its partners

~	Training and skills development on Participatory Monitoring and evaluation, process documentation, report writing including participatory programme development and proposal writing.

~	Conducting social researches and studies

Accomplished Activities

~	Methods and its application of Participatory Appraisal process (PRA)

~	Poverty and Development in Right based approach of Development

~	Designed and conducted a training on “Social Inclusion in Health” to all District stakeholders in GTZ / HSSP supported districts (Jumla, Dailekh, Achham, Doti, Dadeldhura, Baitadi, Surkhet, Dhading and Bardiya) of mid and far west Development regions of Nepal.

~	Designed and conducted a training on “Attitude and Behaviour” to municipality staff members of Kathmandu Metropolitan, Biratnagar, Dharan and Itahari municipalities

~	Designed and conducted training to capacitate District Education Officers from 13 districts and Executive officers from 10 municipalities on 'working on conflict'.

~	Conducted customised courses on ‘Training of Trainers’ and ‘Proposal Writing’ to different I/NGOs, project, independent individuals

~	Conducted “Community Based Proposal Writing training” to Consolidating Capacity in Gender Responsive Organization (CCGRO) partner organizations working in three western districts (Surkhet, Doti And Ddeldhura) of Nepal. Coaching Support from need assessment, proposal development, project implementation, project monitoring and project completion report preparation.

~	Conducted “Rapid Organizational Capacity Assessment” of 13 SNV/Nepal's’ partner organizations in three eastern districts (Illam, Panchatar & Taplejung) of Nepal.

~	Conducted Participatory Organisational Analysis Process of Naari Bikas Sangha (women Development organization) Illam.

~	Conducted Advance Management Training for Team Building to the team of AMDA Hospital, Damak.

~	Supported Action Aid Nepal to develop guidelines for orientation to Partner organization on Development, Poverty, Right Based approach, good governance, globalisation, advocacy etc.

~	Conducted orientation/Induction on Development, Poverty, Right Based approach, good governance, globalisation, advocacy etc to 9 Partner NGOs of Action Aid

~	Conducted Participatory Organizational Capacity Analysis Process and follow up capacity building support of 25 Partner NGOs of PLAN Nepal

~	Conducted Proposal Writing and Report Writing Training to DDC members of Morang district

~	Conducted Social Audit and guideline preparation workshop for DDC Morang and Civil Society organization, funded by Plan Nepal

~	Conducted Participatory Organisational Assessment of 8 local Dalit NGOs affiliated with Federation of Dalit Organizations in Kapilbastu.

~	Developed peer education, office and financial management manuals
